For the remote worker

The country quiet you moved for, without giving up the video call that pays for it. Multi-gigabit fiber to every lot on day one, under a dedicated broadband agreement negotiated for the neighborhood.

Working from here starts with an accident of geography nobody puts in the brochure: you are on Pacific time, which means the East Coast is three hours ahead of you and starts without you. A nine o’clock meeting in New York is six in the morning here, and it is dark and cold and you take it in a chair by the window. The trade is the other end of the day. By two in the afternoon the last person who needs something from you has gone to dinner, and you have four hours of daylight and nowhere you have to be.

That is the part people miss. The country did not just give you quiet. It gave you an afternoon.

Which is where the ground earns its keep. The Bunco trailhead is about fourteen miles out. Farragut State Park and the deep water of Lake Pend Oreille are ten minutes east, forty miles of trail inside the park alone. Spirit Lake’s town beach is twelve minutes west. A morning of calls, an hour on a trail, and back before the afternoon standup, or no standup at all, because you scheduled the standup.

The thing that makes any of it possible is that the arrangement is already in place. Multi-gigabit fiber service lands at every one of the fifty-eight homesites on day one, under a dedicated broadband agreement Joe negotiated for Clagstone specifically. The fiber section on our amenities page has the whole story.

You should know what you are signing up for, too. The dark comes early in December and stays late. Snow is a fact, not an event, and the plow is somebody else’s job because the roads are public. October pays for all of it, when the larch on the hillsides turn gold for about three weeks and then drop their needles like they meant nothing by it.

And when the job needs your body in a room, Spokane International is an hour out with real flights to real hubs. Close enough that you can say yes. Far enough that nobody drops by.

Come walk the ground while the trench is still open.

All of that sits on actual ground. See the fifty-eight on the plat →
